Ingredients

  • 2 cups All Purpose Flour (250g)
  • cup White Granulated Sugar (66g)
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 1 Tablespoon Baking Powder
  • 1 ½ cups Milk (360ml)
  • 2 Large Eggs
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla Extract
  • cup Butter (75g) Melted
  • ¼ cup Nutella (75g) Melted

Serving:

Instructions

  • Put your waffle iron on to preheat while you mix your waffle batter.
  • Sift all purpose flour into a mixing bowl, add white granulated sugar, baking powder and salt and mix together.
  • Add milk, eggs, vanilla extract, melted butter and melted Nutella and mix it into a batter. Don't overmix.
  • When your waffle maker is hot, pour even amounts of batter into the waffle machine and close it.
  • Cook for 3-5 minutes or until the waffles are golden.
  • Serve with melted Nutella drizzled over the top.

Notes

  1. Measure the flour correctly. The best method is to weigh your flour on a food scale. But if you don't have a food scale, just be sure to use the 'spoon and level' method. Spoon it into your measuring cup and then level off the top with the back of a knife. Don't scoop it, and don't pack it into the cup.
  2. How to melt Nutella: Add Nutella to a microwave safe bowl and microwave in 15-30 second intervals, bringing it out to stir every 15-30 seconds until melted.
  3. Grease the waffle maker. We usually use non-stick spray, but read your waffle maker instructions so that you know the best way to grease it. It's important to grease it so that your waffles don't stick.
  4. Resist the urge to peek. If you open the waffle maker too early, you can ruin your waffles. If you have an indicator light that can be slightly helpful, but what's even better is to keep an eye on the steam. When you first close the waffle maker steam will pour out the sides. Wait until the steam has died all the way down before you open the machine to check on your waffles.
  5. Servings: The number of waffles you get from the batch will depend on the size of your waffle machine.
  6. Storing and Freezing: Leftover waffles can be stored in the fridge for 2 days and reheated in the toaster. To freeze, place them into a ziploc bag or freezer safe container and freeze for up to 3 months. Reheat them directly from frozen in the toaster.
