Notes

*Granny Smith apples are the best apples to use for this as they are tart but sweet and hold their shape well in baking. However, you can really use any kind of apple for this so if you can't get Granny Smith apples easily, other apples will also do fine.  We use 8 cups of peeled and chopped apples which also equates to 1 kg or 2.2 pounds.
*Leftovers will keep in the fridge for around 5 days. Reheat a slice as needed in the microwave and top with whipped cream or vanilla ice cream.
*MAKE IT DAIRY FREE: Use a dairy free butter like Earth Balance or a dairy free margarine to easily make this dairy-free. Serve with dairy free whipped cream or ice cream.
*MAKE IT GLUTEN FREE: Use a gluten free all purpose baking flour like Bob's Red Mill All Purpose Baking Flour to replace the regular flour in this recipe. Also make sure to use gluten-free rolled oats.
*Nutritional information is for apple crisp only and does not include ice cream.
