Ingredients

  • 2 cups All Purpose Flour (250g)
  • cup White Granulated Sugar (66g)
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 1 Tablespoon Baking Powder
  • cups Milk (360ml)
  • 2 Large Eggs
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla Extract
  • cup Butter (75g), Melted
  • 10 Oreo Cookies for the batter, broken up
  • 20 Oreo Cookies to place on top of the waffles before closing the machine

Serving (Optional):

  • ½ cup Chocolate (85g), Melted
  • 4 Oreo cookies , broken up

Instructions

  • Set your waffle iron to preheat while you mix your batter.
  • Sift all-purpose flour into a mixing bowl, add sugar, baking powder, salt, and mix.
  • Add milk, eggs, vanilla and melted butter to the dry ingredients and mix into a batter. Don’t overmix.
  • Add broken-up Oreos to the batter and fold in.
  • When your waffle iron is heated, grease it with oil or spray it with non-stick spray (check your manufacturer’s instructions for the best method)
  • Pour even amounts of batter into the waffle machine, add two whole Oreos to the top, and close the machine.
  • Cook for 3-5 minutes or until golden.
  • Serve topped with drizzles of melted chocolate and pieces of broken up Oreo cookies.
  • Makes 8 -10 waffles.

Notes

  1. Measure the flour correctly using the spoon and level method. Spoon the flour into your measuring cup, then level off the top with a knife. Don’t scoop the flour or pack it into the cup. Alternatively, weigh it on a food scale; click ‘metric’ below the list of ingredients to get the ingredient’s weight in grams.
  2. Grease the waffle maker. We usually use non-stick spray, but read your waffle maker instructions so that you know the best way to grease it. It’s important to grease it so that your waffles don’t stick.
  3. Resist the urge to peek. If you open the waffle maker too early, you can ruin your waffles. If you have an indicator light, that can be slightly helpful, but what’s even better is to keep an eye on the steam. Steam will pour out the sides when you first close the waffle maker. So wait until the steam has died all the way down before you open the machine to check on your waffles.
  4. Servings: The number of waffles you get from the batch will depend on the size of your waffle machine.
  5. Storing and Freezing: Leftover waffles can be stored in the fridge for two days and reheated in the toaster. To freeze, place them into a Ziploc bag or freezer-safe container and freeze for up to 3 months. Reheat them directly from frozen in the toaster.
