Waffle Success Tips
Measure the flour correctly. The top tip for any recipe using flour is to measure the flour properly. If you don’t, you can easily over-measure and end up with dry or dense results. The gold standard is to weigh your flour on a food scale. But if you don’t have a food scale, just be sure to use the ‘spoon and level’ method. Spoon it into your measuring cup and then level off the top with the back of a knife. Don’t scoop it, and don’t pack it into the cup.
Grease the waffle maker. We usually use non-stick spray, but read your waffle maker instructions so that you know the best way to grease it. But it’s definitely important to grease it so that your waffles don’t stick.
Resist the urge to peek. If you open the waffle maker too early, you can ruin your waffles. If you have an indicator light that can be slightly helpful, but what’s even better is to keep an eye on the steam. When you first close the waffle maker steam will pour out the sides. Wait until the steam has died all the way down before you open the machine to check on your waffles.
