I love everything about this spinach dip. It’s super creamy and cheesy and best of all, it’s baked to perfection in the oven and served warm!

It’s the best thing ever with toasted baguette slices or chips for dipping.

Also check out our delicious baked jalapeño poppers for a great party appetizer or our baba ganoush for another great dip.

    How To Make Spinach Dip

Full instructions and measurements can always be found in the recipe card at the bottom of the post. This is a summary of the process to go along with the process photos.

    • Add some cream cheese and mayonnaise to a bowl and mix them together. Set aside.
    • Now add some olive oil, chopped onion, crushed garlic and dried oregano to a frying pan/skillet and sauté until the onions are softened.
    • Add in chopped baby spinach and stir in until just wilted.
    • Fold the cream cheese/mayo mix in with the onions and spinach and smooth down.
    • If your skillet is oven-safe then you can just bake this directly in the skillet. If you don’t have an oven-safe skillet though then transfer to a 9-inch round pie dish and smooth down.
    • Bake in the oven at 350°F for 10-15 minutes until lightly golden on top.

    Recipe Tips

The Cream Cheese: You can use any plain cream cheese. Some brands of cream cheese are softer than others but this won’t have an impact in this recipe, so you can really use any brand.

Baby Spinach: The best kind of spinach to use in this recipe is baby spinach. Chop it up well and cook it until just wilted.

Oven Safe Skillet: If you have an oven-safe skillet then that will save a step in this recipe as you can just bake it directly in the skillet you fry up the onions/spinach mix in. However, a 9-inch round pie dish (or even an 8-inch round pie dish) will also work just fine.

    How To Serve Spinach Dip

It is divine served warm with slices of toasted baguette for dipping. Chips are also great for dipping.

If you have leftover dip, it’s also totally fine to serve it cold! This dip is totally delicious either hot or cold.

    Make It Dairy-Free or Vegan

You can definitely make this dairy-free if you use a dairy-free cream cheese like ‘Tofutti’ and if you want it to be entirely vegan, then use a vegan mayonnaise as well such as ‘Just Mayo’.

    Storing and Freezing

Keep leftover dip in a covered container in the fridge and it will stay good for up to 5 days.

You can also freeze spinach dip, though there is the possibility of the spinach getting a little more watery once thawed. This isn’t a deal breaker though and it’s still fine to freeze.

    Notes

    1. This dip can also be served cold so if you have leftovers you can serve as is, you don’t have to reheat it first.
    2. Leftovers keep very well covered in the fridge for up to 5 days. You can also freeze this dip but there is the possibility of the spinach getting a little watery once thawed, though this isn’t a huge issue.
    3. Make It Dairy-Free/Vegan: You can make this dairy free by using a dairy-free cream cheese like Tofutti. If you want it to also be vegan then also use a vegan mayonnaise like Just Mayo.
