Horseradish is a root vegetable that is a close relative of mustard and wasabi. So that should tell you something about the flavor: it’s a little spicy!
This horseradish aioli recipe mellows out the spicy flavors with creamy mayonnaise and sour cream for a delicious dip or sauce that you’ll want to serve with anything and everything.

Ingredient Notes
- Prepared horseradish – we used jarred horseradish for this recipe. It’s called ‘prepared horseradish’ and it consists of grated horseradish with vinegar and salt. If you have fresh horseradish root and want to prepare it yourself then you can do so, just bear in mind it will be stronger than jarred horseradish, so you may want to use less of it.
- Mayonnaise – should be a creamy and full fat version.
- Lemon juice – should ideally be freshly squeezed.
- Sour cream – should be full fat.

- It’s so easy to make this horseradish sauce! Just add mayonnaise, sour cream, prepared horseradish, crushed garlic, lemon juice, dijon mustard, garlic powder and salt to a mixing bowl.
- Mix or whisk to combine.
- Your sauce is ready to serve!
Serving Suggestions
This horseradish aioli sauce is great served as a side with pretty much anything and everything!
It makes a wonderful dipping sauce for fries, chips, veggies, onion rings or any kind of nugget!
It’s also wonderful on burgers, wraps and sandwiches. You can even put a dollop of this on top of your baked potato. It really fancies up any meal and brings out the flavors of anything you serve it with.
Storing Tips
Keep your aioli stored in an airtight container in the fridge for up to a week.
It’s not suitable for freezing.

Horseradish Aioli
Ingredients
- ½ cup Mayonnaise
- ¼ cup Sour Cream
- 3 Tablespoons Prepared Horseradish
- 1 Clove Garlic Crushed
- 2 teaspoons Lemon Juice Freshly Squeezed
- 1 teaspoon Dijon Mustard
- ¼ teaspoon Garlic Powder
- ¼ teaspoon Salt
Instructions
- Add mayonnaise, sour cream, horseradish, crushed garlic, lemon juice, dijon mustard, garlic powder and salt to a mixing bowl.
- Mix or whisk to combine.
- Serve topped with a sprinkle of fresh chopped parsley (optional).
