Horseradish is a root vegetable that is a close relative of mustard and wasabi. So that should tell you something about the flavor: it’s a little spicy!

This horseradish aioli recipe mellows out the spicy flavors with creamy mayonnaise and sour cream for a delicious dip or sauce that you’ll want to serve with anything and everything.

And if you love this aioli then you’ll also love our sriracha aioli, lemon dill aioli, garlic dip and tartar sauce.

    What Goes Into This Aioli:

    Ingredient Notes

    • Prepared horseradish – we used jarred horseradish for this recipe. It’s called ‘prepared horseradish’ and it consists of grated horseradish with vinegar and salt. If you have fresh horseradish root and want to prepare it yourself then you can do so, just bear in mind it will be stronger than jarred horseradish, so you may want to use less of it.
    • Mayonnaise – should be a creamy and full fat version.
    • Lemon juice – should ideally be freshly squeezed.
    • Sour cream – should be full fat.
